Take time, smell the roses...:P

Wow, today absolutely felt like a tourist....Kim had complimentary tickets to take the river boat ride, which is the mini bum boats along the Singapore River..so exciting my first ride along the river! Me, Mingzhu and Kim were so thrilled!

The weather and night scene is simply wonderful! Fresh cool air, really feels like we are somewhere in cool nice temperate countries before ZAPPP! back in HOT HOT Singapore...the lights along Fullerton, Raffles Place , all pubs and night places...the banks.....then of course the Esplanade... even wowed myself at the sight of the "Bungee Ride" that was going on along Clarke Quay...Kim also snapped some shots on the boat and the night scenes...can't imagine that we just zap past our life like that taking little things and pleasures in life for granted..for me i really felt so relaxed and its really taking just 30 minutes of my time to appreciate what's happening around me and i realised that somehow that's how much i have missed...

It's just so so beautiful! I cannot believe it i was just there enjoying myself in the breeze...marvelling at things and sights that i have neglected through the drones of work load...

Work and our daily stresses seem to have drained us of simply just taking time to smell the roses and to really take a good look at the places around us...i din know that my current work place could really look so wonderful...a far cry from the hectic and high strung environment the dull office , though majestic building which i just stepped out from just hours ago...

We all digged at each other..."Nice weather, lovely night scene, super romantic boat ride, BUT (*pause to look at each other*) WRONG PERSON!!!"

We laughed ourselves crazy on the boat ride , definitely adding on to the definition of the "uncouth Singaporean" whaha , amidst the lovey-dovey couples, and the tourists who were snapping away...hey you don't get to do this often...its really some sorta of an indulgence...:P

19th January 2006- D Day

It was the 14th of January a hot Sat afternoon where Poy had booked the badminton courts at Hougang Sports Complex...met Alan..Poy's good fren there for a game of badminton...wow those who were there were really impressed with his smashes...after what seemed like a while later when we really sweat it out...my mum called..

Mama: "Hey, guess what...the mail came in and it states "ON GOVERNMENT SERVICE" I
took the liberty to open the mail for you!!"

Rac: ...... ....... .......

Mama: " YOU GOT THE PERMANENT POSITION as a teacher!!! You would start teaching
officially on the 20th March 2006! and your salary scale is $XXXX!! so high!!"

Rac: (*thinking to herself..O man is that the only thing that you are interested in?*) *cue:
a jumping Rachie Rach around the badminton court with lots of shrieks...*

Just on CG that week, our discussion group leader Mr D had asked us to think of just one minute, with our eyes closed and prayerfully on what we foresee our future would be according to God's will...

I saw two visions of me: one would be where i would be successful in the corporate world, my world would be surrounded by many people from all over the world...macham successful corporate business woman...

Then the next vision i see myself..surrounded by kids and my hair turning white...i do believe its what GOD is trying to tell me...that i actually have two paths...and the path that i have chosen would be is to be with kids and that vision actually show myself enjoying the presence of kids....i was still playing with them..i know then God wants me to impact the life of kids ...through teaching....true enough the letter came that Saturday after only 2 days after CG....

Well the next part of my vision what i saw...got the guys teasing me like crazy...i was the only gal in discussion group that week cos MZ could not make it mah....:P I actually saw my son!!! I saw my this cute son again from all those years ago that little dream i had...this boy with big eyes...look like me a bit....this time round with more details...he ran to me.." Ma ma, mama..." carrying a small violin then he was playing on stage!! I was right there backstage cheering him on ...

silly Poy digged at me..."so the boy must look like the father..." i immediately shot back "well, that's subjective!!!" it seems that a few of us on the table that day had actually shared about the future and getting married and all...well.....

19th Jan came...i went to sign the contract to confirm that i accept the offer..really hope that this is the path for me ...i actually feel a sense of excitement...:)

Kids...to be surrounded by them till i grow old...Kim mentioned that i am a big kid myself...wahahh could not agree more....

show you all some pics from my mum's school which i have been teaching the first part of last year...:)

Shepherd - 10th Jan 2006

Had missions meeting at Teck Keong's place today...again rains has made it really ley chey to go out...

We were supposed to go for missions trip to Hope Jarkarta last year but it was last minute postponed due to many things..My team consists of :TK the leader of the group, Jeremy, Keng Suan, Doreen, Addy, Jasmine and myself.

It was a good time of worship and sharing..we looked through Teck Keong's old photos and had lot of fun hee digging at him not really changing his looks after all those years..some ppl always look so young! :P well...he used to play "erhu" the chinese instrument in his high school days..that was why i was surprised that he knew how to grip the bow of Anthony so well and could even control how to play on the strings!!

All of us wrote down and pondered on two questions:

1) What is Missions to me?

2) Why do I want to go for the Missions trip?

I wrote:

Q1) Missions to me is doing God's work, out of a personal conviction and obedience and love of Jesus, to spread the love of Jesus and the Gospel to people who may not have heard the Word before...

Q2) I want to go fot the missions trip because I have a burden of being a missionary, because I have many friends of different races. And also wanna be learning how to trust to depend on God more ...Learning to be cultural relevant.

TK had asked each of us to write down the team members' response to the second question and to note it down...purpose is not to compare our reasons as being more "holy" than the rest but to note that each of us go with a different understand and with different expectations on how we want to grow..It really serves also as a good reference when before and after the missions trip when we gather again to present our views of our reasons for going to a Missions trip now..

Many plans and dates were set...we are all so excited...we had even set dates to start training for the coming trip..plans to go gym la..running la...etc etc...so farnie....we must really be fit for being in the field as God's workers!

Sunday morning wor!! can we wake up on time? wahahah...

Met CC and Kim straight after that for shepherding...hence the title of this blog..

We had a good time also sharing our views and goals for the coming year and me personally also wanna pray for God's specific verse for me this year...

We even sat down and evaluated our shepherding relationship with each one of us on separate pieces of paper and we had good laughs when we saw what was written..making a pact not to argue what was written but to think through personally why and what was written....you could see the difference..when suddenly as least for me...i was really conscious of my speech after i read what was written about me..:P tried to argue my way through also....so farnie...:P

Had music practice at Nexus straight after that and this week we are singing are mostly Paradise Church's songs....and came across this one called "Shepherd" I thought of my human shepherds, my heavenly Shepherd...really blessed by the thought that all the shepherds are watching over my life... this song really speaks my heart..dedicate to you all...

1 Cor. 10:13

" No temptation has siezed you beyond what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted. He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."

Shepherds that shed blood and tears over my life, shepherds that watches over me...:) Looking forward to a exciting new year together with you all!

Shepherd

I will give my heart to You,

Forever faithful God,

Guide me in Your truth.

I will go where You may lead,

Your hands of grace will guide,

They draw me to Your side.

Bridge:

I'll praise Your Name forever,

Join with the shouts of Heaven, Glorify.

Chorus:

You are the King of Glory

You are the Lord Almighty.

You are the Shepherd of my heart.

I will give You all my praise.

I 'll follow You always,

The Shepherd of my heart.

8th January 2006 - 11:00pm

Flashbacks of things that came and went,

Tears mixed with fears of the things to come,

"Approach the throne with confidence, " the Bible says..

Words of prayers to soothe this aching soul and heart..

Words of comfort from a trusting friend,

Gives a vision of God's love and comforting strength,

"Lord, this year is YOURS", I pray,"May I not cry again that same way.."

"Lord You are good and Your mercies endureth forever, calm my hurts and grant me love ,"

"Heart of forgiveness to set the old things straight, renew my heart, my soul my strength!"

"Lord, I know You would catch me when I fall, Lord Your love is so much better than life!"

Bittersweet, yet wonderful the past year has been..

May the forthcoming be as wonderful... if not more spectacular that You have purposed it to be!

:)
